Our Pillars

Pillar I: Joyful Praise

Pillar II: Skillful Stewardship of Craft

Pillar III: Formation Through Teaching and Music

“Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, bless His Name; tell of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples!” — Psalm 96:1–3
“Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.” — Psalm 33:3
“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly, as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
– Colossians 3:16
We believe that skill honors both our God and the gift He has given, a true act of worship.
Scripture calls musicians to play and sing skillfully, and we take that calling seriously. At The New Song Academy, students are taught to steward their musical abilities through disciplined practice, thoughtful pedagogy, and a deep understanding of technique, theory, history, and expression. Musical skills develops with time and intentional, effective practice. We encourage parents to learn and grow musically alongside their child, understanding practice methods and important techniques their children are working on.
Our approach reflects a classical, whole-person mindset: music is not isolated from other areas of learning, but connected to mathematics, sciences, language, history, and other arts. Skill is cultivated patiently and intentionally, with an emphasis on foundations that support lifelong growth. Intentional integration of music with a learner's daily lives/schooling/profession is essential to fully grasp music's capacity within our lives.

We believe that music is a gift from God, meant to be received with gratitude and offered back with joy.
Throughout Scripture, God’s people are called to sing—to praise, to rejoice, and to respond to His goodness in song. At The New Song Academy, students are encouraged to delight in music across eras, cultures, styles, instruments, and history. We also encourage self-discovery, active listening to concerts and events, and composition. We believe beauty, creativity, and meaning in music reflect the order and goodness of the world God created, inviting us to listen and create with care and wonder.
We believe music teaches far more than notes. Throughout Scripture, music is described as a means of teaching—shaping hearts, minds, and communities. At The New Song Academy, learning an instrument becomes a formative journey that mirrors the spiritual life itself. Students learn diligence through daily practice, humility through correction, patience through slow progress, and responsibility through stewardship of time. Ensemble work teaches cooperation, respect, and the understanding that each person has a vital role to play. Growth happens precept upon precept—starting small, building steadily, and expanding into complex, mature musical expression. In this way, music becomes a means of instruction, encouragement, and formation, preparing students to play well and carry these lessons into their daily lives wisely and faithfully.
